A general rule of thumb, however, is to resist making your pet's food readily available during an entire day. Establish a set "mealtime" for your pet. |
Obesity, the most common nutritional disease in cats and dogs, can shorten an animal's lives significantly. While they are alive they tend to have more chronic health problems such as heart and respiratory ailments that simply result from poor nutrition. Too much weight also puts a strain on legs and back muscles as well as promotes the onset of premature arthritis -- all of which makes it harder for the pet to get adequate exercise.

The Holland M Ware Charitable Foundation and Norred & Associates are proud to present Exotic Animal Inspection Training with Captain Cindy Machado Director of Animal Services for the Marin Humane Society and Dr. Mel Richardson
Captain Machado and Dr. Mel Richardson will teach a course on inspecting traveling animal shows, circuses and roadside zoos.
Charles Simmons, investigator with Norred & Associates will speak briefly about dogfighting, animal cruelty and hoarding in Georgia and how Norred & Associates can provide pro bono assistance with investigations.
Participants in the training course will be awarded certificates of completion.
Complimentary Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Captain Cindy Machado is the director of animal services for the Marin Humane Society. She is a past board member of the California Animal Control Directors Association.
Among many other duties, Captain Machado coordinates and supervises the Basic and Advanced Animal Law Enforcement Academies held at the Marin Humane Society that include a course on inspecting traveling animal shows. She has also trained law enforcement departments across the country in circus inspections and has participated in numerous circus inspections.
Dr. Mel Richardson has more than 40 years of experience, the last 28 as a vet, caring for elephants and other captive wild animals. He is a former staff veterinarian at San Antonio and Woodland Park Zoos.
Dr. Richardson has previously consulted with the cities of of Sacramento and St. Louis to assist them with circus elephant inspections.
Norred & Associates is the largest and oldest locally owned corporate security and investigative firm in Atlanta, Georgia. For the past four years, Greg Norred, the founder and CEO of Norred & Associates, has been donating the firm’s time, expertise and his own money to rescuing dogs.
To date Norred & Associates has provided pro bono investigations that have lead to 31 raids, 48 people behind bars and saved almost 850 dogs.
Charles Simmons is in charge of Special Operations and has been with Norred & Associates for over 20 years. He is a former Chief of Police of Marietta, GA, and a retired Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer. Chuck has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice/Public Administration.
